PROCESS
First, I interview the client to understand their social media goals. The key questions are: What are you looking to grow? And who are the people that will grow it?
Another overlooked question: Who is speaking? Sometimes a social account needs a hyper-personal voice from one creator, while others represent an entire corporation, calling for a voice that sounds balanced and professional. And, of course, some companies opt for a zanier tone that is neither of those!
Next, I choose the appropriate social channels based on the goal(s) and audience(s). I create a social media calendar, mapping out posts and images, often in monthly chunks. This includes the specific intention and CTA of each post – for example, “Brand awareness” and “Sign up for our newsletter.” It all sounds very formal and organized, but some social campaigns go a really fun direction, with audience games, jokes, riddles, and witticisms.

You may be in the thick of picking out gifts for your loved ones at this point.
On top of juggling all the “”adult”” gifts, you’re probably trying to help your kids take ownership of the gifts that they want to give this year.
Here’s where I think it’s important to instill the real meaning of gift-giving. They say “”It’s the thought that counts,”” but that may not mean a lot to a little one.
I suggest explaining things to them more plainly: the time, attention, and love they put into giving a gift are far more valuable than the dollars spent.
Then it’s time to pull out the craft box! Let them go to town, designing and making gifts for grandma, grandpa, and the rest of the family. Macaroni necklaces, handprint ink prints, painted t-shirts… You may even find some inspiration with the craft activities on my website: https://bit.ly/3ogMlYe
And don’t forget to stream some fun music while you craft — maybe my Merry Christmas album to get in the Christmas spirit, or my Abracadabra album to go with the feeling of magic when you create something! So hard to choose — just listen to both!

Do you live in a place with regular seasons?
I’m from Austin, TX, and I have to say: winter is less of a reliable season for us here. Sure, sometimes it gets cold, but we could just as well have an 80º day in December!
Whether you live in a place that’s a bit warmer or colder, seasons are a great opportunity to teach your kids about change — enjoying things while they’re here, and letting go when it’s time for them to evolve. (It’s a lesson we adults would do well to remember, too!)
To help kiddos see change in action, we actually have a lesson plan on my website here: https://bit.ly/475CtEa
You can listen to my song “”In the Freezer”” while creating a homemade snowman: https://bit.ly/3udGrMy
You’ll help your kids predict and observe what happens to him — inside the freezer and outside the freezer. And you can teach them about the water cycle — your melted snowman today becomes a new snowman next winter!
Just make suer you have some ice cream in the freezer, too, to comfort any kids who hate to see their snowman melt!

Do you have plans to go visit family next week?
Some of us are lucky enough to live near our loved ones — like aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents. But many of us need to be intentional about visiting loved ones who are far away.
This is especially important when we’re helping our kids form close bonds with grandma and grandpa. Grandparent-grandchild relationships can be really special for children throughout their lives – it’s a relationship where they get the wisdom of experience but with less of the stringency of day-to-day parenting.
Sometimes kids more easily open up about their inner world with grandparents because of that.
The great thing is that with modern technology, even if we can’t visit grandma and grandpa more than once a year during the holidays, we can still let our kids do phone and video calls with grandparents to keep up the closeness.
My song “”Grandmas and Grandpas”” talks about the warm and supportive connection that kids get to experience with their parents’ parents. Give it a listen and see what the kiddos — and the gramps — think!
Maybe it can even help inspire some art that your kids would want to mail to a grandmother or grandfather who lives farther away!

If there’s one thing that’s fun to do together in the cooler fall days, it’s baking!
I often hear of parents looking for easy recipes to make with their little ones. Personally, I’m a fan of classic chocolate chip cookies (be prepared to eat some very chocolatey cookies if you let your child pour the chips freestyle) or any kind of no-bake cookies.
But I also love a good jelly roll. There are lots of great recipes for this online, but if you don’t have the time (or energy) for scratch-made cake, a box of cake mix will do just fine.
Your kids will enjoy helping spread the jam, and it’s always a breath-holding suspenseful moment when you roll up the cake. It’s so fun to eat the spirals when you cut it!
And even if it falls apart, it’s still cake. You really can’t go wrong.
Whatever you end up baking, stream my song “Pat a Cake” while you work for an extra layer of fun!

Feel like starting the new year with a new skincare routine, but you’re not quite sure where to start?
The keys are:
1) Getting to know your individual skin — dry, oily, combination, sensitive, aging, all of the above.
2) Maintaining consistency in your routine.
Both easier said than done. But you can build a skincare routine one step at a time, month by month, as you discover what works for your skin this year.
And remember — for pretty much everybody, the last step of your skincare routine is SUNSCREEN!
Post #2:
Micellar water. What is it? And is it right for your skin?
Although it sounds like some kind of radical technology, micellar water is just soft water with tiny globules of cleansing oil in it — “micelles.”
Working on the “like attracts like” principle, these micelles will gently draw the oils and impurities out of your pores while leaving your skin feeling fresh and clean, not oily.
It can be a really good option for people with sensitive skin.
Post #3:
What is your skin’s biggest enemy in winter? From the cold wind outdoors to the desiccating heat indoors — it’s dryness!
Just like you might want to curl up in a Netflix ball in the winter for some R&R self-care, give your skin some extra care, too, to counteract all the drying and irritating parts of the season.
Post #4:
At this point, we’re weathering the less-fun days of winter. The holidays are a distant memory, and you’re making it through another work week.
But you don’t have to let things become so drab. Make your own mini “just because” holiday with a pampering spa evening.
Try hydrating masks that will help your skin build up protective layers against the harsh elements.

Omega-3 fatty acids form an essential part of your body systems, and that includes joint support. They’ve been found to moderately reduce pain and stiffness from rheumatoid arthritis. Ginger has served as a natural pain remedy for centuries. Modern studies show that it actually does rival ibuprofen. To get a supercharge of ginger, take it as a supplement. But it’s also enjoyable to lace your cooking, baking, and beverages with a zip of fresh ginger.
